(By Delegates McKinley, Paxton, S. Williams, Rutledge, Pulliam, Mezzatesta, Houvouras, H. White, Rowe, Burk and Faircloth)

Requesting Congress to enact enabling legislation to allow residents in public housing to purchase units.

Whereas, Many residents of public housing throughout the United States, while having the ability to meet the costs of such housing and the incidental expenses that go along with a rental residence, may never have presented to them the opportunity to purchase their own homes or residences; and

Whereas, These residents of public housing are being denied the pride and joys and frustrations of that part of every American's dream of home ownership that millions of their fellow citizens enjoy, who can purchase their own homes; and
Whereas, These residents of public housing can experience the reality of this dream of home ownership and innate pride of every homeowner, if the means existed whereby they could purchase their residential units; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Congress of the United States is respectfully requested to enact enabling legislation to allow residents in public housing to purchase units; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to the West Virginia delegation to the Congress of the United States.
